Our front brake air diverters. Race proven. No messing!

I’m fairly confident we run the most powerful X100 in the country, highly likely the planet! She gets some fair abuse when she’s out. It’s not road legal, so only ever released onto a track!

One of the problems with lots of power, is heat. Pretty much all of the available frontal area on my XK is full of heat exchangers of some description! On track cars of days gone by, we’ve run flexible hose from the bumper somewhere and popped the other end in behind the caliper. I’ve not had that luxury.

Ultimately, I’ve cracked a second set of AP rotors on my car in the matter of 12 months track days race meets. We run some fairly serious front braking, including 8-Pot calipers, and alloy bells with 378mm rotors. This leaves me worrying everytime I’m on track. If I get a shuddering through the pedal, I start to get concerned. Trust me, this can shake ones confidence a little at the end of hanger straight! I attached some heat stickers to the calipers, and was shocked!

Long story short, we ended up developing these air ducts. We based the designs on essentially what many OEM’s have been doing to cool brakes on their ‘sportier’ models, but naturally incorporated our own design element into it.

The air diverters are designed in such a way that they scoop air from the lower arm area, and divert it directly onto the fron brake calipers. They attach to the front lower arm by means of 3 x 8mm Zip ties.

This is the third revision after various designs, and we’ve cracked it properly now. We’ve brought the entire braking assembly temperature down by nearly 75 degrees like for like! Now don’t get cracked disks!

These are designed to be fitted in minutes, with no holes needing to be drilled, nothign other than some tie wraps (supplied!)
