Had a great day chilling at Castle Combe Circuit on Friday with a few of the guys. Thanks to Slip&Grip Automotive for another great track day.

It was nice to test a few bits and pieces I've modified on the car. Mostly steering and cooling. Now running a Mégane MK4 column, driven with custom CAN by the Maxxecu / Maxxtuning AB Pro.

Thanks for the photos @mrprezzas you caught the fire perfectly!

Some good banter to be had. Nice to see @matt_urchfab changing spark plugs like a Pro! His little Mini will be a weapon!

We had to short shift to keep the noise down, but ultimately a successful day. Everything worked, and worked well.

Yes, I know the fire is childish. But I'm childish. It's a race car. It's turned up to 11. Yes sir.

Julian's 20v Fiat Coupé on Maxxecu Race.

Julian travelled down from Nottingham with his 20v Fiat Coupé. It's been an ongoing project for him for a few years.

It's had a fully forged engine, with lots of bolt on goodies, and an EFR6758 Turbo.

We were aiming to crack the 400bhp mark, with around 1.7-1.8bar of boost.

Our first run on the Dyno immediately showed some issues. 100% duty cycle on the boost control solenoid, along with a 'lethargic' boost curve. 280bjp at 1.5 bar peak. The power curve absolutely fell off a cliff by 5750rpm. Ok, weve got some work to do here!

After some diagnosis, we discovered the DV had accidentally been plumbed incorrectly, bypassing air. A quick Dyno fudge plumbing job sorted that, and we were able to get on with the job in hand. Calibrate the ECU!

We ended up with 367bhp, as we've got some potential fuel demand issues.

But a 4 year trek for Julian somewhere nearing now where it should be.

Lovely looking car that Julian imported from Japan.

Jack's V8 M60 8HP E30 on Maxxecu Race.

Jack purchased an ECU kit from me in the summer. I logged on via TeamViewer and did a startup with him after he'd finished wiring it up.

A few extra sensors here and there for fuel pressure, oil pressure and the like Some VW COP and some new injectors add to the mix.

The E30 Touring has always been a guilty pleasure of mine, even before they were cool, and just old snot you'd buy cheap from from the 'yellow paper'! A great machine this one.

Calibrated on the Maxxecu Race, close loop fuelling, knock control, oil temp engine speed limiter, 8HP control setup with blip down, and torque reduction up.

Cracking machine.

309Gti running a Gti6 engine on Maxxecu.

James travelled halfway accross the country to collect this old girl. The bare bones of a great project. Already fitted with a 306 GTi6 engine, and a few tasty mods for a track weapon.

He's had lots of bits and pieces done already, and we were entrusted to sort out the Engine Management.

Naturally, a Maxxecu was in order. A Maxxecu Street in this case. PWM control on two newly fitted radiator fans. All the OEM functions working as they should.

Cracking car, love the look and the sound of them. Takes me back!

Tommy's SAAB 900 Turbo.

This was in a while ago. She's running the Maxxecu Sport, with FBW, multiple boost maps, coil on plug all the goodies.

She was in a couple of weeks ago to tune a higher boost map, along with a few other bits and pieces, including a CAN-Checked 52mm guage, and sorting the ECU to run the Air-Con.

280bhp. Retro looks, and Tommy's just had some bought some ace wheels and had them painted. Looking forward to seeing it on her new rims.

Another Racing Jag on our Maxxecu P&P kit!

Loom and ECU posted to customer. Customer fitted. Remote session from me to get them up and running, then a trip down to see my handsome self to make her sing!

Lovely XJS racing car that's been in the circuit for a few years, and straight off to SPA shortly.

The most power we've seen from a NA AJ16 to boot.

Internal datalogging as standard on all Maxxecu which was a customer requirement. This one is running the 'Race' with plenty of I/O, knock control and plenty of future development available. 👌

Look forward to seeing her out and about.

Jaguar X100 XK V8 race car.

Mark, (the handsome devil) has been to see us a few times now. Travelling all the way down from Derby, just to see my handsome face! Mark works with Andrew at Auto Reserve and are often sending me all sorts of random bits and pieces I decide I need for my old Jag! Including the most recent parcel containing an 8HP. Hit them up for any Jag bits!

Mark had recently fitted a Maxxecu Race, that we'd supplied him a few months ago. Once he'd finished up, we logged on online and got it fired up and idling enough for him to make the trip down to the Dyno.

A few man hugs, and a coffee or two, and the job was started. A relatively trouble free Dyno tuning session. Plenty of low down grunt, and a nice free revving 4.2.

Look forward to seeing the old girl out on track. 🤜🤛

Maxxecu Race powered EP3 on throttle bodies.

I'll apologise for the lack of updates here, and the slow email response. I've had the busiest last few weeks we've ever had. Long days is a bit of an understatement, 3am 'last night' replacing a Turbocharger on an RS3. Back up early on the Dyno ready for Mark, who's travelled from Derby to see us.

This little beauty is Tim's EP3. A long term track car that's had many guises along the way.

He's recently fitted a set of throttle bodies, and has been communicating with us about the ECU requirements.

There are a few options out there, even some plugins nowadays.

He'd already purchase himself a 'budget' replacement engine harness as his original had been cut about and messed with.

We decided a Maxxecu Race would be the best option. Knock control, lots of additional I/O, onboard datalogging etc.. One of the best bits about the Maxxecu is being able to map the K20 in the same manner as the OEM ECU. Multiple VE tables & ignition tables, that interpolate based on cam angle. It saves having to modify the tables every time you demand a different cam angle. Just like Honda did it!

Can't wait to see him in track again,

Charlie's cracking little R53.

In for tuning on the OEM ECU, 469, 550's, Airtec.

Charlie's built this engine with his father, as the old one had a cracked cylinder head. The R53 does seem to suffer with this in fairness. They crack near the spark plug hole.

It's great that he's built the engine with his dad. I'm pleased that this sort of work can be handed down from generation to generation. I sometimes feel that this sort of 'dirty' skill is almost looked down upon these days.

A 'mechanic', in these modern times, needs to be a million things. An engineer, an electrician, a plumber, an admin clerk, a telepath!

I imagine it was an enjoyable experience for father and son, and I respect it massively. I look forwards to building an engine on my son's first car. 👌👌

AJ6 Jaguar XJS, loomed & tuned!

Swallows Jaguar - Swallows Racing new 'race rental' Jaaaaag. MaxxECU Street fitted with one of my off the shelf AJ16 looms.

Some small mods to the AJ6, namely front pulley and cam position sensor from an AJ16, allow us to run the AJ6 beautifully. Naturally fully sequential. Upgraded COP to the easily obtained VAG units. (Yes I dislike the red ones too, I'd planned on black coils)! Commonly used modern Bosch injectors also added at the same time. Mostly these things are added for reliability. Some of the old Jag stuff is 30+ years old, and getting more and more scarce. Replacing these with modern equivalents makes perfect sense.

The on board wideband keeps the fuelling in check, and also some great information for the on board logging (up to 1000hz you know!).

Oil pressure, and oil temperature also added into the mix. All of this data is transmitted over CAN to the newly fitted Aim Technologies PDM08, and 10" screen.

A quick tune using one of my basemaps for the AJ6 on the Dyno, and she's ready to compete!

A great little race car being tested soon before it's first race in future classics.

500bhp AWD Volvo C30, and a cracking summer haircut! 🤷👌

Sam's Epic Maxxecu powered GTX3584R C30. Fully forged T5, and now with added AWD.

At the heart of this conversion is the Maxxecu Race of course! Not only controlling the engine perfectly, with various boost Maps accessible from the OEM steering wheel. It's working all the OEM guages, the OEM Air conditioning, the traction control using information from the OEM ABS module, but now controlling Sam's Volvo Haldex module too. Using wheel slip data, tps data and vehicle speed data, it will determine the AWD characteristics.

Sam's properly worked hard on this car, fully forged T5 engine, custom manifolds, custom work everywhere. Great to be involved.

An R53 with a difference. Raised, no Aero kit, and no R56 rear splitter. 😍😁

Jack brought his little Rallycross Mini over for us to dial in his 469 & 550cc injectors.

He also, got his gran to make Pasties. He arrived, with 6 hot proper Cornish home made pasties. I went the extra mile for this guy! 😍

We ran the vehicle up, 6psi of boost. Amazing. Crack out the smoke machine to find a cheeky split on the intercooler boot. A full 'dyno fudge' later involving some tape, and some glue, and we're golden!

Jack also got his other half to make Chocolate cake to bring. This guy's trying to butter me up. Well, as it goes, I respond very well to beong buttered up with pasties and cake! Thanks to Miss Rowe for the excellent cake!

Some mild mods to my 469 base map, and we got her nailed. Lowered fan temps, and all those goodies!

A glorious MK1 Golf 20v on Maxxecu Sport.

Another exceptionally well prepared MK1 GTi. Mark has owned this gem for 30 years, and has performed all of the modifications himself. Lots of 20v goodies!

We actually tuned this a couple of years ago, but we ran out of injector essentially.

Mark booked it back in to have some bigger injectors fitted, along with some mods to allow the Maxxecu to run 'Boost By Gear', and modify his Corsa power steering setup to be driven also by the Maxxecu.

We used the pickup on his instrument cluster to provide the VSS signal straight to the ECU. We calibrated the speed output against the Dyno. We then used the Maxxecu functions to calibrate each gear ratio. In this case, we used a 4D table for all gears on the boost demand table.

We used the same VSS input to replicate the original Corsa ECU, to send the PAS module the correct signals for both speed, and indeed RPM. Both sent via frequency outputs on our GPO outputs.

A quick couple of hours on the Dyno to verify the fuelling, and add a little more boost.

Cracking little car, thanks Mark for letting us help you along the way with it.

Kawasaki H2, supercharger I4, powered Sabre Race car.

Recently installed Kawasaki H2 engine replacing the fireblade engine.

The car is a great piece of kit, dry sump, paddle shift, all the goodies. It sounds, as you'd expect, glorious.

The car is used for track days only at the moment, and it sounds like the guys enjoy every minute at various tracks all around the country.

It's been on a spit for the best part of a year, but should be back on her wheels within the next few weeks.

It's fairly bonkers naturally, and again, to us, it's about the attention to detail. The stuff you can't see.

Gen 1 haldex mounted in its own cradle with fully adjustable arms, you can just about see the rear mounted radiator in the picture. All frames recently come back from cerakote, and all arms powder coated by Mr Fox!

Another CAN project completed. The late X100 4.2 Supercharged XKR, manual conversion with full Standalone Maxxecu Race.We've had the CAN protocol in the 4.0 Jaguars resolved for a little while . You may have seen us onDRIVETRIBETRIBE YouTube channel Swallows Jaguar - Swallows Racingacing on their 4.0 XKR manual conversion.Well, the 4.2 is on a late ECU, with a completely different CAN protocol. There is an awful lot of differences on the whole, not just the CAN protocol, but the entirety of the on board control systems. It just as well be a different brand frankly.This has been a massive undertaking. Integration of all the instruments. Traction control, air conditioning etc etc. This system will just plug into your current XKR ECU connector, and run the car with a Manual gearbox.
