Charlie's cracking little R53.

In for tuning on the OEM ECU, 469, 550's, Airtec.

Charlie's built this engine with his father, as the old one had a cracked cylinder head. The R53 does seem to suffer with this in fairness. They crack near the spark plug hole.

It's great that he's built the engine with his dad. I'm pleased that this sort of work can be handed down from generation to generation. I sometimes feel that this sort of 'dirty' skill is almost looked down upon these days.

A 'mechanic', in these modern times, needs to be a million things. An engineer, an electrician, a plumber, an admin clerk, a telepath!

I imagine it was an enjoyable experience for father and son, and I respect it massively. I look forwards to building an engine on my son's first car. 👌👌

Lovely little car, nice and tidy cracking couple too, thanks for coming down guys, pleasure. 👌👌

AJ6 Jaguar XJS, loomed & tuned!

Swallows Jaguar - Swallows Racing new 'race rental' Jaaaaag. MaxxECU Street fitted with one of my off the shelf AJ16 looms.

Some small mods to the AJ6, namely front pulley and cam position sensor from an AJ16, allow us to run the AJ6 beautifully. Naturally fully sequential. Upgraded COP to the easily obtained VAG units. (Yes I dislike the red ones too, I'd planned on black coils)! Commonly used modern Bosch injectors also added at the same time. Mostly these things are added for reliability. Some of the old Jag stuff is 30+ years old, and getting more and more scarce. Replacing these with modern equivalents makes perfect sense.

The on board wideband keeps the fuelling in check, and also some great information for the on board logging (up to 1000hz you know!).

Oil pressure, and oil temperature also added into the mix. All of this data is transmitted over CAN to the newly fitted Aim Technologies PDM08, and 10" screen.

A quick tune using one of my basemaps for the AJ6 on the Dyno, and she's ready to compete!

A great little race car being tested soon before it's first race in future classics.

500bhp AWD Volvo C30, and a cracking summer haircut! 🤷👌

Sam's Epic Maxxecu powered GTX3584R C30. Fully forged T5, and now with added AWD.

At the heart of this conversion is the Maxxecu Race of course! Not only controlling the engine perfectly, with various boost Maps accessible from the OEM steering wheel. It's working all the OEM guages, the OEM Air conditioning, the traction control using information from the OEM ABS module, but now controlling Sam's Volvo Haldex module too. Using wheel slip data, tps data and vehicle speed data, it will determine the AWD characteristics.

Sam's properly worked hard on this car, fully forged T5 engine, custom manifolds, custom work everywhere. Great to be involved.

An R53 with a difference. Raised, no Aero kit, and no R56 rear splitter. 😍😁

Jack brought his little Rallycross Mini over for us to dial in his 469 & 550cc injectors.

He also, got his gran to make Pasties. He arrived, with 6 hot proper Cornish home made pasties. I went the extra mile for this guy! 😍

We ran the vehicle up, 6psi of boost. Amazing. Crack out the smoke machine to find a cheeky split on the intercooler boot. A full 'dyno fudge' later involving some tape, and some glue, and we're golden!

Jack also got his other half to make Chocolate cake to bring. This guy's trying to butter me up. Well, as it goes, I respond very well to beong buttered up with pasties and cake! Thanks to Miss Rowe for the excellent cake!

Some mild mods to my 469 base map, and we got her nailed. Lowered fan temps, and all those goodies!

A glorious MK1 Golf 20v on Maxxecu Sport.

Another exceptionally well prepared MK1 GTi. Mark has owned this gem for 30 years, and has performed all of the modifications himself. Lots of 20v goodies!

We actually tuned this a couple of years ago, but we ran out of injector essentially.

Mark booked it back in to have some bigger injectors fitted, along with some mods to allow the Maxxecu to run 'Boost By Gear', and modify his Corsa power steering setup to be driven also by the Maxxecu.

We used the pickup on his instrument cluster to provide the VSS signal straight to the ECU. We calibrated the speed output against the Dyno. We then used the Maxxecu functions to calibrate each gear ratio. In this case, we used a 4D table for all gears on the boost demand table.

We used the same VSS input to replicate the original Corsa ECU, to send the PAS module the correct signals for both speed, and indeed RPM. Both sent via frequency outputs on our GPO outputs.

A quick couple of hours on the Dyno to verify the fuelling, and add a little more boost.

Kawasaki H2, supercharger I4, powered Sabre Race car.

Recently installed Kawasaki H2 engine replacing the fireblade engine.

The car is a great piece of kit, dry sump, paddle shift, all the goodies. It sounds, as you'd expect, glorious.

The car is used for track days only at the moment, and it sounds like the guys enjoy every minute at various tracks all around the country.

Calibrated on Woolwich.

It's been on a spit for the best part of a year, but should be back on her wheels within the next few weeks.

It's fairly bonkers naturally, and again, to us, it's about the attention to detail. The stuff you can't see.

Gen 1 haldex mounted in its own cradle with fully adjustable arms, you can just about see the rear mounted radiator in the picture. All frames recently come back from cerakote, and all arms powder coated by Mr Fox!

This little thing will be epic!

We are immensely proud to have been involved with the 4R with Ariel. We've a long standing relationship that started in 2007 with the original K20A2 powered beasts!

The newest revision of the Atom 4 is loved by all the motoring press so far, it looks awesome, the new side pods housing the extra large intercooler, and extra cooling radiator just make it a solid 11!

Working with these guys is always a positive experience. There is always immense positivity, and passion for the car. You can see why Ariel are market leaders in their field.

If you are lucky enough to have a 4R on the way, you are not going to be disappointed. But you don't need me to tell you that!

This little Morgan is used on track by owner and his son. They've driven most of the UK tracks by the sounds of it, and I imagine this is a right hoot!

Some recently upgraded brakes have certainly helped get round quicker!

We've calibrated the Duratec engine on MBE. Throttle bodies making all the right noises!

MaxxECU powered 8HP in the UK. The first 8HP jaguar XKR on the planet.

So the upcoming Maxxecu update, allows us to control the ZF8HP (Gen1) directly from the ECU using the OEM ECU via can. No external controllers, no soldering no cutting about. Just connect up the CAN, and control it as the OEM ECU used to.

This update will be free. Even the Maxxecu Mini can run this update.

My Jag below, runs the Jaguar 8HP70, and yes, we plan on offering a conversion for the X100 & x150 among others. Watch this space.

Possibilities are endless.

I can tell, I'll have a 4wd XKR soon.

Zak's M62 powered R53.

Zak set out to build himself a cheap little run around, with a few minor mods and planned not to get too carried away on mods. Naturally, fast forward 3 months, and he's ordered a supercharger from the States. 🤣🤣🤣 My kinda guy! 🤣👌

The M62 supercharger isn't a 'common' conversion, and few get them to work particularly well as I gather it. Zak asked me if I'd be up for having a little bash at calibrating it once he's worked his fabrication genius over it. It peaked my interest.

Zak runs his own fabrication business, making inlet manifolds and all manner of other alloy goodies. So he was more than up to the task of of fabricating the required parts to fit the supercharger.

So the headline figures. Everyone's always interested:

A stock R53, pits down about 140whp on my Dyno. Bang on a 17% pulley, and an intercooler, and it might see 160-170whp on my dyno. Zak's car, is putting down 220whp. There are other mods on the vehicle in fairness, including a road cam and front mount intercooler, but still, the figures are there. Considering he's done it all himself, and at relatively minimum cost.

Clever guy. 👌

I know in the 'R53 Scene' the figures look low. My Dyno has 'American Comparison Mode'. Which spits out figures some 20% fatter, but I refuse to use it.

Good work Zak, proper little weapon.

Could do with a turbo too mind.... See you in 6-Months!? Compound setup?!

Getting some late nights in at the moment!

Jack's Jaguar XK8.

Jack ran with the Classic Touring Car Racing Club last year, with essentially a 'scrap yard' engine. Swallows Jaguar - Swallows Racing had concentrated on getting a light, agile car. They'd decided to run a Normally Aspirated engine in the car, to present some new challenges and see how they get on. Tom had won the championship the year before with his XJR6 superchaged Jag.

Jack did very well, and came second in the championship to a V12 XJS.

Swallows decided this year, to actually modify the engine. So far, the engine had remained unopened from new! They commissioned a pair of gas flowed cylinder heads, and a set of Kent cams.

After some tweaking to the Maxxecu / Maxxtuning AB Race we fitted and tuned last year, we released 45bhp. We've got lots of upgrades to get busy on the engine with this year, but it's been decided to work in stages, to see exactly what does what.
