Cosworth YB Harness for Mk2 Escort, with MaxxECU R Cosworth YB Harness for Mk2 Escort, with MaxxECU RaceI seem to be getting more and more orders for these packages. I try to allow them to be as customised as is possible. Stevie, sent me down a 'pattern' of where he'd like his ECU located on his Mk2 escort, along with various other sensors and the like for his YB Converted Mk2. Knock control / Oil temp / pressure and so on.I've left an Aux plug in the engine bay for future upgrades, along with plenty of I/O inside the car too!Stevie asked if I could sort a fuse box for him too, in order to make the installation as easy as it can be. I've modified the MaxxECU off the shelf fuse / relay box, so that all the new systems are powered by new fresh harnessing. Fuel pump & fans are powered by this fuse box. Plenty of labelled cable to get around the vehicle!I've also added in a few extra wired for his guages & cluster. Dave's 1.8T MR2, no beetle, no MR2, no beetle! Wh Dave's 1.8T MR2, no beetle, no MR2, no beetle! What a concoction. This is a MK3 MR2, with a 1960's beetle popped on the top, with a 1.8T BAM conversion. Phew. Oh, Maxxecu Powered obviously.I love it when people build something, that they want. Exactly what they want. Not because the internet says they should, not because they want to gain subs on YouTube. Purely, because that's what they want. Enter stage left, Dave Mahoney. Dave wanted to build a Beetle he could 'Daily', so reliability, a modern engine, power steering, brakes etc. Dave says, he was 'In the bath' when he discovered the wheelbase for an MR2 was nearly the same as a beetle! And so it began,He bought an MR2, bought a beetle, and amalgamated the two! Its a pretty convincing beetle too honestly! It's even got two fake 1" exhausts hanging out the back! The perfect crime?Nope, The 1.8T conversion is becoming commonplace in the MK3 MR2, driven by Stav's channel. He's made a bolt in conversion mount kit for the 1.8T. Dave pops off and buys an Audi TT, pulls the engine and box, sells the remainder. Whipped the motor into the Beetle., and here we have it. He's recently installed a Maxxecu. The Maxxecu Race runs the 1.8T beautifully, and allows being able to run the OEM beetle guages straight from the ECU.It's very important how it looks to Dave., so there are lots of little bits and pieces to try and hide the fact it's actually an MR2. I absolutely love it. It sounds utterly ridiculous flying up the road too! 🤣🤣#maxxecu #beetle #mr2 #mr2beetle #18tconversion #retro #classiccars #vw #vw@maxxecu

Jacks AJV8 XK8. Jack Robinsons AJV8 powered XK ha Jacks AJV8 XK8.Jack Robinsons AJV8 powered XK has been under development for a few years now. Ultimately running a stock 4.2 Bottom end, with cams and headwork. We've wanted to get a 'proper' engine in this car for a good while. I mean, in reality he's currently running the 'Number 1' on his car, since winning his championship last year, but still, the plan was always to develop this NA engine into something worthwhile. I love these sorts of projects. Ultimately, very few people, if any who have done such a thing. Certainly few with cast iron information, or indeed results. Jack was successful enough in his XK to have been moved up a class, so this opened up being able to actually modify the engine to a similar fashion to others in his class (Albeit different engines). So here we have it, a 'revvy' AJV8. Lightened, balanced, fully customised engine. Built and developed between Swallows - PVE - Mark (Auto Engineering). We've spent an awful lot of time mechanically moving cam angles after running in this engine today. As you can imagine, modifying 4 x cam positions is a bit of a pain on a hot engine. (Luckily I had Tom Robinson for that)! Some very interesting results on moving the camshafts about were had on the custom camshafts. Ultimately being able to make some fairly significant gains in areas he thought the car was lacking in.As with all development, I'm keen to see how it progresses, we're revving this far more than it should be. Piston speed is a massive concern honestly, Mark has been very keen to keep mentioning! These mechanical limits are there to be pushed though, until somebody finds out right?!I wish Tom and Jack good luck racing in the Modern Classics with the Classic Sports Car Club at Spa next weekend. They will be facing serious cars there, plenty of BMW's and M3's. I'm very Jealous! Maybe next year.Good luck to Jack Robinson Tom Robinson and the whole Swallows Jaguar - Swallows Racing crew with this old girl! He's opted for fly by wire, modern injectors, K20 Coil on plug conversion along with various sensors for protection. Knock control / Oil temp / pressure and so on.

I've left an Aux plug in the engine bay for future upgrades, along with plenty of I/O inside the car too!

Stevie asked if I could sort a fuse box for him too, in order to make the installation as easy as it can be. I've modified the MaxxECU off the shelf fuse / relay box, so that all the new systems are powered by new fresh harnessing. Fuel pump & fans are powered by this fuse box. Plenty of labelled cable to get around the vehicle!

I've also added in a few extra wired for his guages & cluster. Hopefully it'll make his life installing the system nice and easy!

Another YB Mk2 safely under the instruction of a MaxxECU!

Thanks for the custom Stevie, I look forward to getting logged onto this and getting you up and running. :-)

Phew. Oh, Maxxecu Powered obviously.

I love it when people build something, that they want.

And so it began,

He bought an MR2, bought a beetle, and amalgamated the two! Its a pretty convincing beetle too honestly! It's even got two fake 1" exhausts hanging out the back!

The perfect crime?

Nope,

The 1.8T conversion is becoming commonplace in the MK3 MR2, driven by Stav's channel. He's made a bolt in conversion mount kit for the 1.8T. Dave pops off and buys an Audi TT, pulls the engine and box, sells the remainder. Whipped the motor into the Beetle., and here we have it.

He's recently installed a Maxxecu. The Maxxecu Race runs the 1.8T beautifully, and allows being able to run the OEM beetle guages straight from the ECU.

It's very important how it looks to Dave., so there are lots of little bits and pieces to try and hide the fact it's actually an MR2.

I absolutely love it. It sounds utterly ridiculous flying up the road too! 🤣🤣

Jacks AJV8 XK8. Jack Robinsons AJV8 powered XK ha Jacks AJV8 XK8.

Jack Robinsons AJV8 powered XK has been under development for a few years now.

Ultimately being able to make some fairly significant gains in areas he thought the car was lacking in.

As with all development, I'm keen to see how it progresses, we're revving this far more than it should be. Piston speed is a massive concern honestly, Mark has been very keen to keep mentioning! These mechanical limits are there to be pushed though, until somebody finds out right?!

I wish Tom and Jack good luck racing in the Modern Classics with the Classic Sports Car Club at Spa next weekend. They will be facing serious cars there, plenty of BMW's and M3's. I'm very Jealous! Maybe next year.

Good luck to Jack Robinson Tom Robinson and the whole Swallows Jaguar - Swallows Racing crew with this old girl!

May your pistons stay in your liners!

I've got an anal level of integration going on with this one. Anyone can get a K20 to run in anything. Nothing to it. Getting everything working as it should like factory takes some thinking about. Mechanical speedo, rev counter without enough revs!

AJ16 - Maxxecu Race Gen2 with 8HP?! Right you lot AJ16 - Maxxecu Race Gen2 with 8HP?!

Right you lot, come on a connector fondling journey with me! 👀🫣🤣

One of the more in depth AJ16 harnesses we've built, the first one I've done using the Gen2 Race. Pretty much all of the V8 systems that go out the door are built on the Gen2, but generally we stick to the Race Gen1 for the AJ16.

This harness is provided ready to go into an XJS. It uses the OEM crank and Cam sensors including the pickups. I'm told there are still systems being sold where you have to hack this stuff about. This runs the OEM systems, and fully sequentially.

It has dual knock sensors for on board knock control.

Dual LSU5.2 wideband lambda control

Fly-By-Wire ready to go

Fuel temperature and pressure monitoring.

Oil pressure and temperature monitoring.

4L80E direct control ready

8HP control ready.

All the epic benefits of the Gen2 Race, including crazy internal logging storage, WiFi/Bluetooth loads of extra IO.

This loom and ECU will be able to develop with the car as things are upgraded and installed.

We started fitting the Maxxecu to Jaguars about 7-8 years ago. We install now nothing but the Maxxecu. Plenty of others are seeing the light and moving over now though. 👌 I like to lead, so others can follow! 😁🤔🫢

David's using our AJV8 package on his vehicle, the Maxxecu Race H20, along with a PDM20 to supply the power.

This thing. Polar opposite. Everything was spot on ready to go. Absolute testament to David and his Dad. I mean, he does own a Jaguar Landrover specialist up near Milton Keynes, but still, I've seen all sorts over the years!

It's been a brutal few weeks, and some ridiculous It's been a brutal few weeks, and some ridiculous hours, and I apologise for my lack of updates.

We've had harnesses & ECU packages ongoing in the background, plenty of packages off out the door, along with the workshop stuff.

This is Colin of Swallows Jaguar - Swallows Racing XJ40 race car.

We've given this the full works, a whole body harness built up to his racing regulations. An AIM PDM32 powering the whole deal. One of our off the shelf AJ16 Maxxecu Packages looking after the freshly built AJ16 engine.

Colin has moved up a class this year, so is able to add in some limited modifications. We've taken advantage of those allowable, and wish him the best success.

The PDM32 from AIM is coupled with a 6" display, being able to view any of the data from the Maxxecu over CAN. Logging all values along with GPS data. All stored internally for review at a later date. Live lap times are displayed on the screen. 🕺

Good luck at the weekend boys & girls.

Another high spec AJ16 ECU & Harness off out the d Another high spec AJ16 ECU & Harness off out the door.

Apologies if you're waiting for a response from an email or whatever, I'm burning that midnight oil at the moment, a lovely little car in the workshop I'm building a harness for and then building 'postal harnesses' in the evenings, until often pretty late! So bare with me!

This is an AJ16 harness for a car coming soon, it's a turbocharged X300.

The vehicle has been converted to fly-by-wire, the harness is pre-wired for this. It's also pre-wired for a boost control solenoid, dual knock control, oil temperature, oil pressure monitoring and safety strategies.

I've added EGT into this harness, along with added cables in for the OEM guages and alternator functions. This saves having to run any extra cables onto the engine, it keeps it all tidy.

Naturally added VAG coils on plug, as we've been doing for many years on the Jaguars. :-)

An early 900 turbo, 1979 to be exact.Such an awkward looking car by today's standards. Quirks everywhere. The windscreen is so heavily wrapped, something again these days is just a thing of the past.Tommy of TR Autos brought this over for us to look at a few bits on the Dyno. He's a fountain of knowledge on any Saabs ( I can confirm, I've told him he is a sick man!) letting me in on various quirks of the early versions! Jackshaft for the water pump for instance on the early 8v engines. The gearbox arrangement feels odd too if you've never come across it!An old K-Jet system sorting the fuel delivery, and ultimately causing Tommy's visit! Fantastic car, even if I do immediately try and turn these damn things on using the kTR Autos#03#saabot the#saab900T#saab900turboa#900turboa#trautosa#tuningshed#900turbo #trautos #tuningshed ... Cool-as-fuck-ometer is all the way around to 11.Vauxhall Chevette 'HSR Homage' F20C powered. Not a common sight these days, a Chevette in general. They were certainly more commonplace back when I first started driving. Whenever I get a common 70's car on the Dyno, I'm always amazed at how small they are. I literally had a 24 plate Aston Martin DB11 on the Dyno yesterday, a modern 2 x seater GT car, but the size difference is phenomenal. The Chevette, even with it's HSR panelling, felt miniscule!Funny how we remember things differently! Or maybe I'm just old! This little car is well known in the community, from what I can tell it's been built to a fantastic standard, and as I'm lead to believe, is built to HSR specs. It's fitted with a stock F20C Honda S2000 engine, with a set of Jenveys, and a dry sump system.I'm always a fan of the small details in builds. When the small details are correct, it usually means the rest is, and I won't spend my day tracing wiring faults or reattaching hoses in some manner.79' is a great year!Andrew, the current custodian has some plans for some potential competition driving in the old girl. Along with coating some of the parts with Cerakote! Andrew owns and runs Amitec - leaders in preparation and application of coating systems, and the quality of the Cerakoted parts on this car are testament. 😉Great to see you today Andrew, can't wait to catch up soon - he's promised me a couple of laps at Combe in the carJenvey Maxxecu / Maxxtuning ABgDyno Dynamicsho#jenveyw#Amiteci#tuningshed#vauxhalla#chevettea#HSRn#HS #maxxecuD#pvei#dynodynamicsamitec #tuningshed #vauxhall #chevette #hsr #hs #maxxecu #pve #dynodynamics ... The Jaguar AJ33 and the VVT!The VVT control for the AJV8 comes up quite regularly for me. I've had a couple conversations on the phone this week from potential clients, both interested in fitting the AJV8 into a landrover based beasty of some description. Both guys telling me that the VVT on the AJ33 makes no difference to power, and it's just there for emissions. Often times it feels like I'm beating my head against a wall. I get arguments for 'keeping it simple', or 'it's easier to just not use it'.I meant VVT is pretty solid these days on aftermarket, it's literally a couple solenoids, and a pair of position sensors. Seems mad not to use it in my book.A couple of weeks back I took the opportunity while tuning one, to lock the cams (via the MaxxECU) at 0 degrees and do a run, then with optimised VVT and did a run. The runs were back to back, within a couple minutes of each other. Power & Torque displayed at the wheels. It's hard to argue with the 'No more power Gag', but I know I'd prefer the bags of extra torque left on the table right! It's not just for a few hundred revs either!PS. The Supercharged AJ33S behaves in the same manner!Naturally this is just WOT, and naturally in a race environment. There is no argument from me that VVT has an impact on the emissions, ultimately it should be calibrated correctly throughout, but to purposely not worry about emission, and indeed stump yourself of 40ftlb for the majority of your WOT seems utterly mad to me.Let those cams swing! Let those free ponies loose!Swallows Jaguar - Swallows Racing#aj33 #aj34 #tuningshed #pve #pvengineering #vvt #landrover #maxxecu ... See MoreSee Less
