Jacks highly tuned NA AJV8 Engine on MaxxECU

acks AJV8 XK8.Jack Robinsons AJV8 powered XK has been under development for a few years now. Ultimately running a stock 4.2 Bottom end, with cams and headwork. We've wanted to get a 'proper' engine in this car for a good while. I mean, in reality he's currently running the 'Number 1' on his car, since winning his championship last year, but still, the plan was always to develop this NA engine into something worthwhile

I love these sorts of projects. Ultimately, very few people, if any who have done such a thing. Certainly few with cast iron information, or indeed results. Jack was successful enough in his XK to have been moved up a class, so this opened up being able to actually modify the engine to a similar fashion to others in his class (Albeit different engines).

So here we have it, a 'revvy' AJV8. Lightened, balanced, fully customised engine. Built and developed between Swallows - PVE - Mark (Auto Engineering). We've spent an awful lot of time mechanically moving cam angles after running in this engine today. As you can imagine, modifying 4 x cam positions is a bit of a pain on a hot engine. (Luckily I had Tom Robinson for that)! Some very interesting results on moving the camshafts about were had on the custom camshafts.

Ultimately being able to make some fairly significant gains in areas he thought the car was lacking in.As with all development, I'm keen to see how it progresses, we're revving this far more than it should be. Piston speed is a massive concern honestly, Mark has been very keen to keep mentioning!

These mechanical limits are there to be pushed though, until somebody finds out right?!I wish Tom and Jack good luck racing in the Modern Classics with the Classic Sports Car Club at Spa next weekend. They will be facing serious cars there, plenty of BMW's and M3's.

I'm very Jealous! Maybe next year.Good luck to Jack Robinson Tom Robinson and the whole Swallows Jaguar - Swallows Racing crew with this old girl!

May your pistons stay in your liners!
